Scout's Favorite Things: The Best Dog Toys and Comfort Picks We Keep Coming Back To

By Scout & Company Companion Pet Care

Some products come and go, but a few have become real staples in our home. These are the ones Scout always goes back to — the toys she pulls out herself, the beds she actually uses, the blanket she won't sleep without. If you're looking for tried-and-true dog toys and comfort picks that hold up over time, here are Scout's long-standing favorites.

Just a note: Scout & Company is not sponsored by or affiliated with any of these companies. These are simply products we've used, tested, and loved.

1. PetFusion Ultimate Dog Bed

We're a multi-bed household, and this one is at the top of my list for older dogs. The orthopedic memory foam base helps ease joint pain and supports mobility, which has been so important for Scout as she's aged. The bolstered sides give her a comfortable place to rest her head, and the cover is soft yet durable, resistant to water and tearing. It stays put thanks to a non-skid bottom, and it's easy to clean: just remove the cover and toss it in the wash. When it's time for a refresh, replacement covers are simple to order.

2. Chuckit! Ultra Ball Dog Toy

In my opinion, these are the best fetch balls you can buy. Scout has loved them since she was a puppy, and to this day, they're still her first choice. Made from durable rubber, they come in different sizes and squeaky versions for dogs who love extra noise. They're extra bouncy, which makes playtime fun (just be careful around anything breakable). Scout will even pull hers out of the toy box to toss around the house and entertain herself. Whether you're playing fetch outside or your dog just wants solo play, these are winners.

3. Monkey Plush with Rope Squeaky Dog Toy

If your pup loves tug-of-war, this toy is a must. Scout is obsessed. Over the years, we've had plenty of rope toys, but none have topped this one. It's soft with minimal stuffing (so less mess if it rips), and it includes a squeaker for added fun. Scout loves tugging, tossing it around, and even napping with it. A true multitasker.

4. KONG Cozie Ali the Alligator Dog Toy

Scout has always been a plush toy fan, and this one from KONG holds up better than most. It has a built-in squeaker and comes in a variety of animals, but naturally, Scout picked the alligator as her nod to Louisiana life. She frequently sleeps with it tucked next to her, so it's soft enough for snuggles while being tough enough for play.

5. PetAmi Dog Blanket

Scout loves to be cozy, and she insists on having a blanket for her bed. She's also surprisingly picky — over the years, I've tried plenty, and some she wouldn't even lie on. But this one is a winner. She'll fluff it into the perfect spot and then happily settle in. It works just as well draped over furniture, inside a kennel, or in the car for travel. It's durable, machine-washable, and easy to keep clean. The company also makes an excellent waterproof version if you need extra protection.

Final Thoughts

Every dog has their own favorites, but hopefully this list gives you a few new ideas to try with your pup. We'll keep adding to the journal as Scout discovers new things worth sharing, and at 14, she still has opinions about everything.
